Micah Web Site Development Process

We briefed Rabbi Zemel and the Micah staff on several occasions to get their approval and input.  We also briefed the Temple Board.  All were very supportive and enthusiastic.

Then we gathered input from the congregation, staff and leadership. Debra Beland served as the interface between staff and the web site. A small focus group provided feedback on the beta site as it evolved.   This group also participated in a “card sorting” (insert link here) exercise to determine the optimum organization of the tabs and folders.

And, perhaps most importantly, we invited the entire congregation to provide input through a web-based questionnaire. From our 90 survey responses,  we learned that Micah members assign the highest importance to the following types of content:

  • Rabbi sermons
  • Calendar in graphic form,
  • Activities, events and programs
  • “Jewish” content
  • Improved religious school coverage.

We also learned that members were looking for these types of web site improvements:

  • Navigation aids – tabs, folders/subfolders, search function
  • More modern look & feel without frames
  • No expired content
  • Consistent and timely information
We believe the new site meets all these improvement objectives.

Also, we researched the best practices for web design and the findings guided our “look and feel”.
