We will begin the year by studying two seminal Jewish thinkers who paved the way for Judaism's encounter with modernity:  Maimonides and Spinoza reading Maimonides, Spinoza and Us: Toward an Intellectually Vibrant Judaism by Marc D. Angel.  Marc Angell is a noted Maimonides scholar and longtime rabbi of the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue in New York City.  The book is based on his years of teaching the works of these two intellectual giants.

For next year (5774) we will read Building a Bridge to the Eighteenth Century:  How the Past Can Improve Our Future, Neil Postman.
