This community gathering gives us an opportunity to hear/share stories about what our temple founders were thinking when they dreamed of creating a new Jewish community in Washington's Southwest, what drew us to Temple Micah, what kept us here, and where we see ourselves heading in the next 50 years.

Temple Micah is made of many stories from our first 50 years.  This community gathering will give us an opportunity to hear and share stories about what our temple founders were thinking when they dreamed of creating a new Jewish community in Washington's Southwest, what drew us to Temple Micah, what kept us here, and where we see ourselves heading in the next 50 years.  Through song, prayer and discussion, we will hear from members, and share our stories in small groups.  In Micah fashion, we will conclude with Havdalah and afternoon refreshments.

Micah Pioneers Remember

Rochelle Stanfield (Shelley Grossman), member since 1967. Photo from 1967. Not sure who that other fellow is.

"The congregation had a totally different kind of feeling from any religious experience I had had before. What attracted me was that there was no hierarchy. We were a bunch of Young Turks who felt we were starting something. It was a great feeling."
