Anat and Ami Perelman of Or Hadash in Haifa will speak

Email sent by Rabbi Manewith, July 23:

Dear Friends,

Like many of you, I have been following the events in Israel and Lebanon closely over the past number of days.  Though I rely on information from a variety of print, internet and broadcast media, it is often difficult to sift through it all in order to gain a full understanding of daily life for those directly affected by the conflict.

I’m writing to tell you about a very special opportunity to hear about the challenges currently facing the residents of Haifa.  As you may know, Temple Micah members have been fortunate to share a very warm relationship with members of our sister congregation, Or Hadash in Haifa.    Anat and Ami Perelman, members of the Or Hadash community, will be at Temple Micah on Tuesday evening, July 25th to speak about life in Haifa.  The event will begin at 7:30.  Ami currently serves as the administrator of Or Hadash.

The Perelmans are staying with Bob Dorfman and Celia Shapiro, Temple members who spend a number of months each year in Haifa and have become active members of the Or Hadash community.  Their trip was originally planned with different purposes in mind but, they are eager to speak to us about life in Haifa, and at Or Hadash.

If you are unable to attend, but would like to learn more about life in Haifa through a first person account, please  read a series of letters from Rabbi Edgar Nof, the rabbi of Or Hadash.

Thank you so much for your attention.

I hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to seeing you soon.  Until then, I hope that you will join me in a prayer for peace for all peoples.

Sincerely,

Toby
