Temple Marks 25 Years with Rabbi Zemel and 3 Couples
Twenty-five years ago, Chaim Herzog was elected president of Israel, The Color Purple won the Pulitzer Prize, the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday was made a national holiday and Temple Micah member Natalie Iglitz made aliyah to Israel. Temple Micah also embarked on the search for its third permanent rabbi, and Margaret and Jeffrey Grotte, Sarah and Jay Grusin, and Jessica and Harry Silver joined the congregation.
They, and, of course, Rabbi Zemel and Louise Zemel, will be honored at the Shabbat service March 14 as they join the congregation's 25 Year Club.
The newest 25 Year Club members will talk about what Micah has meant in their lives. They also will lead some special prayers written 25 years ago.
