From Toddler Play to Adult B'nai Torah, Programs Abound

(August 2006 Vine)

While my voice and I are on vacation this month, you can make yours heard. We will begin a number of new programs this fall if you let us know you would like them to happen. First, there will be an Advanced Beginners (Level 2) Hebrew class this year. Anyone who is already able to read Hebrew and would like to learn more vocabulary and grammar is encouraged to participate. The class will be led by the participants (following a wonderful book series--Aleph Isn't Enough, Bet is for B'reishit) and will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays. This class and the Adult B'nai Torah class will combine for the first half hour to study Torah with Rabbi Manewith.

Also, if there is enough interest, we will begin another Daytime Hebrew class, from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays, for those who would like to learn to read Hebrew. And, we are looking into the possibility of a conversational Hebrew class. Please let me know if you are interested in any of these Hebrew language offerings.

For families with young children, a number of eager parents are organizing to begin a K'tonton Parent/Toddler group. They would like to meet from 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays to participate in activities and discussions centered around Judaism. They are searching for a group facilitator to bring discussion topics and child-centered activities. If you are interested in participating, please email ktonton@templemicah.org

In the same vein, we are trying to determine if there is enough interest to continue the Jewish Parenting group. This group has been meeting once a month, from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursdays. Babysitting is provided. Please let me know if you are interested in participating.

More information about our ongoing groups will come out in September, but rest assured that Kol Isha (A Woman's Voice--study from a woman's perspective), Tot Shabbat, It's a Girl Thing (for seventh- and eighth-grade girls) and our New Member Group will continue to engage you and your children.

I look forward to studying with you in the fall and I hope you are having a restful and enjoyable summer!
