Now Adults Can Go To Religious School
Vine column Febrary 2005
The number one thing I hear from religious school parents is that they wish they could attend religious school classes when their children do. Some parents never had the opportunity to attend religious school, while others are looking for a refresher course.
Im excited to announce that this month and next, Temple Micah will be offering parents (and any other Micah members who would like to join us) the opportunity to take a mini-course I will be teaching on Sunday mornings in the sanctuary from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m.
This three week course will focus on some of the basics of Judaism, like prayer and holiday rituals. Its open to anyone who is interested in learning a little more about Judaism. To participate, please sign up by emailing educationdirector@templemicah.org. The dates of the class are: Feb. 6, Feb. 27 and March 6.
The school year is more than halfway over but we still have a number of exciting things on the horizon.
Students in the first through eighth grades will continue to explore Israel's past and present when they attend The Babylon Project, Temple Micah's innovative experiential learning program held at the GW Hillel House.
Our eighth graders, who have focused this year on comparative religion, will be visiting a number of local houses of worship.
I'm thrilled to report that our new high school program has been drawing both record numbers and heaps of praise from our oldest students. All of this is in addition to the great work our students and teachers are doing in every classroom each week.
