New Program Broadens the Religious School Experience

[from January 2006 Vine]

The Chavaya: Jewish Life Experience program has completely changed our religious school day and curriculum, and the feedback from students, parents, and teachers has been very positive.<\p>

Every Sunday morning, students in kindergarten through 8th grade spend 45 minutes conversing in modern Hebrew during Ulpan, tackling ethical dilemmas during Derech Eretz or sitting or sitting alongside their parents studying prayer during Family Minyan. I want to thank everyone for being so open to a very different educational experience and for being flexible as we make adjustments to the Chavaya schedule in order to schedule in order to make this ambitious program a success.

I also want to thank the many parents who took the time to fill out the online survey about Family Minyan sent out in late November. More than 80 people responded to the survey and the information we received is invaluable. The thoughtful and detailed feedback you provided will help us to continue to adapt the program to best meet the needs of all of our learners. When it comes to Family Minyan, our goal is to provide families the opportunity to explore prayer and spirituality together, in an environment that is engaging and informative. With the feedback we received, we will be able to fine-tune the program to better achieve that goal.
