Information on giving in response to local, regional or international emergencies

In the past, Temple Micah has suggested donations in response to a variety of emergencies, including--

  • Myamar (Burma) Disaster Relief in 2008 (through donations to the Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief for its JDC: Myanmar Cyclone Relief).
  • Israel Emergency Relief in 2006, by helping our sister congregation, Or Chadash, in Haifa, by contributing through Temple Micah's Israel Fund.
  • An emergency request from Community Council for the Homeless/Friendship Place for emergency personal hygiene items in 2006.
  • Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts in August of 2005 (through URJ, Temple Micah, and local coordinating volunteer organizations)
  • Ongoing efforts to Stop the Genocide in Darfur, Sudan (More information can be obtained under Community Wide Volunteering)
