Hineni
When God called to Abraham, he answered, "Hineni—Here I am." Connecting members in times of need.
Hineni, like benevolent societies in Jewish communities of old, makes here-and-now connections between Temple Micah members in need and others who would like to help. A coordinating committee, along with caring volunteers, organize meal delivery, in-home visits, rides to Temple, friendly phone calls, drop off of Shabbat remembrances—whatever suits the personal situation.
Both performing and receiving these acts of loving-kindness offer rewards. Often satisfying relationships develop.
You can participate in many ways. Become a volunteer to assist a member in need. Take part in our Connecting the Generations program, which matches Religious School students and their families with Temple seniors. Or organize a grassroots "shtetl" group in your neighborhood as a way to get to know members close by through a book club, tzadakah or study group, or other mutual endeavor.
Whether your commitment is short- or long-term, Hineni welcomes you. Please contact us.
