This class will explore the contemporary State of Israel using various approaches - historical, theological and political.  Why is there a Jewish state?  What is the purpose of Israel?  What were the motivating ideologies of Zionism?  What are the prospects for peace?  How does Israel relate to her Arab neighbors?  What is life like for an Israeli?  What is the future of Israel and the Palestinians?  What does Israel mean to us as American Jews?
