DESCRIPTION:Join us for Erev Shavuot services on Thursday evening\, May 21s
 t at 6:30 p.m.\, (with a dairy oneg featuring cheesecake bites starting at
  6:00 p.m).\n\nOn Erev Shavuot\, we mark the end of the 49-day Omer count\
 , and the revelation of the Torah at Mount Sinai. The service includes the
  ritual reading of the Ten Commandments\, the singing of Hallel\, and refl
 ections from our rabbis. Yizkor will be read.\n\nThis year especially\, we
  are drawn to give extra voice to the traditional reading for Shavuot: the
  Book of Ruth. Ruth is the righteous immigrant and paradigmatic convert\, 
 the outsider who becomes central to the Jewish story. In a time when immig
 rants are too often met with suspicion rather than welcome\, Ruth’s stor
 y asks us to consider what it means to open a community to the stranger.\n

 p\;weekly email&nbsp\;(“Friends of Temple Micah”) prior to the service
