Geniza Ceremony with Machon Micah (Grades 3-12)

October 23, 2022
10:00 am - 11:30 am

Do you have worn-out sacred texts and objects, such as prayer books, that you would like to clean out in a reverent and respectful way? Join Rabbi Crawley, along with Machon Micah students (3rd-12th grades), for a Geniza Ceremony at the Temple Micah cemetery. A Geniza is traditionally a place to store sacred documents and objects when they fall out of use; we will bury ours together. There will be worn-out texts from Temple Micah, but you are welcome to bring yours from home. If you have any questions about what you’d like to bring, email Rabbi Crawley.

NO advance registration is required to attend.

Meet at the Temple Micah Cemetery:  Mt. Lebanon Cemetery is located off Adelphi Road in Adelphi, MD. Please note the entrance to Temple Micah Cemetery is located on Adelphi Rd between New Hampshire and Riggs Rd. The main entrance from Riggs Rd will take you to the wrong section of the cemetery. After entering Mt. Lebanon Cemetery from Adelphi Rd, from the cemetery entrance go straight past the cemetery office, continuing as the road bends left and left again. The section is on your right, marked by the Micah bench.

An email will be sent to the community on Sunday morning in case of inclement weather.
