SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn: "Hidden Child" with Lou Weiner\, MD
DESCRIPTION:In August 2024\, Lou and Harriet Weiner traveled to Belgium to 
 visit the place where Lou’s mother hid as a child during the Holocaust. 
 This presentation will describe the events of a single day\, interwoven wi
 th key moments from his mother’s years of hiding\, along with&nbsp\;pers
 onal poems and illustrative paintings.\n\nHarriet and Lou have been member
 s of Temple Micah since 2009\, and are residents of Washington\, DC. They 
 have three children and nine grandchildren. Lou hails from Philadelphia\; 
 his father\, also a Philadelphia native\, was a WWII veteran and his mothe
 r was a hidden child in Belgium during the&nbsp\;Holocaust.&nbsp\;He is Di
 rector of Georgetown University's Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center\, o
 verseeing the cancer&nbsp\;center's basic and clinical trial research\, cl
 inical care through the MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute\, community ou
 treach &amp\; engagement and cancer research training and education. He ma
 intains a medical oncology practice focused on gastrointestinal cancers\, 
 and runs a research laboratory that is developing novel immunotherapy appr
 oaches to treat pancreatic cancer.&nbsp\;\n\nRegister&nbsp\;before 5 p.m.
