DESCRIPTION:Register\n\nThe immigrants often described as “unauthorized\,
 ” “undocumented” or “illegal” are largely young\, working famili
 es that often have permission to live and work in the U.S. Jeffrey Passel 
 will discuss his research describing the characteristics and legal statuse
 s of this population\, including who they live with\, how they got here\, 
 where they live and where they work. New survey data shows some changes in
  attitudes toward immigration enforcement. Passel’s Pew Research publica
 tions represent some of the most detailed and authoritative information on
  unauthorized immigrants and the entire foreign-born population.\nPLUS:\nR

 le Micah member for more than 35 years\, is a senior demographer at Pew Re
 search Center. He is a nationally known expert on immigration to the Unite
 d States and the demography of racial and ethnic groups. Formerly with the
  Urban Institute and the Census Bureau\, Passel has written numerous studi
 es on immigrant populations in America\, focusing on such topics as the si
 ze of the undocumented immigrant population\, economic and fiscal impacts 
 of the foreign born\, and the impact of demographic change on the size and
  composition of the US population. Passel regularly discusses his research
  and the Center’s findings in print and broadcast media.\n\nRegister bef
