Support Ayuda with Boots for Migrants

Temple Micah will be taking our next steps to “welcome the stranger” by collecting winter boots for migrants. Migrants often arrive in DC from countries with tropical climates without appropriate winter clothing. On cold, wet days in DC, everyone needs warm boots to get to school and work and complete their daily tasks.

To help meet this need, we are partnering with Ayuda, a nonprofit organization that offers a full range of immigration and family law assistance, case management, therapy, and language support across the DMV to low-income immigrants from anywhere in the world.

Ayuda is fortunate to have already received generous donations of winter coats – and has asked us to focus on donating winter boots — new or very gently used — for its clients. Ayuda welcomes donations of boots of all sizes but particularly needs:

  • children’s sizes 9.5, 12, 1.5, 4
  • women’s sizes 5, 7, 8.5, 10
  • men’s sizes 6, 8, 10.5, 11.5

Two ways to make your donations!

1. Bring to Machon Micah on Sunday January 28 between 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. This is the ONLY time we will be collecting donations at Micah!

2. After the 28th, mail your boots to Ayuda, Attn: Connor Paul,1990 K St, NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 2006.

If you have any questions, please contact Robin Shaffert.
