As of October 17, 2021, we have provided Friendship Place with 575 household items for a total of $21,231.46 worth of supplies via Amazon!
We are so grateful for your boundless, continued generosity. THANK YOU!
Please join Machon Micah’s 6th graders this High Holiday season for a twist on one of Temple Micah’s most important mitzvah projects: providing dignity to the area’s homeless in partnership with Friendship Place, a local community-based organization that works with the District’s homeless.
For 20 years, our community has provided Friendship Place with thousands of pairs of new underwear each year, but due to the tremendous success of last year’s drive, coupled with a different flow of needs due to Covid-19, Friendship Place has plenty of underwear to support the homeless for the coming year.
But as you know, there continues to be plenty of need in the District. So instead of underwear, this year we will help bring dignity home by supporting Friendship Place’s Neighbors First program, which provides Permanent Supportive Housing for highly-vulnerable, chronically-homeless families and individuals. Each quarter, Friendship Place places ~100 families and individuals in Permanent Supportive Housing. We are going to help those families and individuals make their new house a home, by providing linens, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies and more.
