Today, we all mourn.

Dear Friends,

Today, we all mourn.

Almog Sarusi

May their memories always be blessed.

For almost a year, every Shabbat we have prayed the Hashkiveinu thinking of the hostages. In doing so, we changed the language of the prayer, praying mightily to God for those held by Hamas in Gaza’s dark tunnels:

Shelter THEM beneath your wings

Guard THEM from all harmful things

Keep THEM safe throughout the night

Let THEM wake to morning’s light

Our faith teaches us that God works through human hands. The government of Israel chose to close their hands to the hostages.

We therefore invite you to join us in the Temple Micah parking lot today, Sunday, September 1, from 5-5:30 p.m. (there will not be a Zoom option). We will join hands as we mourn, lift our voices in song and pray for a better day.

Shalom,

Rabbi Daniel G. Zemel

Rabbi Josh Beraha

Rabbi Stephanie Crawley

Rabbi Healy Slakman
