So much has happened in the last year. Through it all—the good, bad, and tumultuous—we at Temple Micah have been able to turn to one another. That’s what community is: a group of people who choose, over and over again, to show up for one another.
We do that for our immediate Temple Micah community: the synagogue has seen so many people come together to fortify themselves through music, prayer, and discussion. Our rabbis led listening and study sessions for federal workers and those impacted by workforce reductions and the shutdown. Through Hineni, we bring meals to Micah families going through struggles of all kinds. Machon Micah engages our youngest congregants and their parents with joyful study about Jewish identity.
Being part of the Temple Micah community means engaging with the wider world, too. Micah House supports women in recovery. Sukkat Shalom aids immigrant and refugee families. We have stood in support of reproductive rights. And just this month, we turned to our social justice fund to help fill gaps by donating to local nonprofits addressing food insecurity and immigration enforcement.
And as the calendar year ends, we are asking you to show up for this community by giving what you can.
We are asking every member who is able to donate to help us meet the year end goal we need to match or surpass: at least $180,000. We invite you to donate online or to send a check to Temple Micah. We understand that some have been impacted by the federal shutdown and other political realities. That’s why we’re asking those who are able to please give as generously as you can; each one of us can strengthen our community as we navigate change together.
