April 27, 2026
As we wrote in March, the Board decided to hire a two-year Rabbinic Fellow in order to meet our congregation’s needs as we enter this new chapter in our synagogue’s story. We are now thrilled to share that, after an efficient and thorough search process, the Board has accepted the Rabbinic Fellow Search Committee’s unanimous recommendation to hire Rabbi Kelly Whitehead for that role.
Many of you may remember Rabbi Whitehead from her time as the Tisch Rabbinic Intern at Temple Micah in the summer of 2023. Her familiarity with and understanding of Temple Micah was just part of what impressed the committee, and us personally, in this process. We were blown away by her thoughtfulness, creativity, commitment to social justice, compassion, and enthusiasm.
Rabbi Whitehead, in her position as Rabbinic Fellow, will be a full part of the clergy team, working together with Rabbis Slakman and Frank and under our new Senior Rabbi, Rabbi Beraha. As Rabbi Beraha put it, “I’m thrilled to welcome Rabbi Whitehead as our new Rabbinic Fellow. She brings a deep love for the Jewish story and the Jewish people along with a real seriousness of thought. She understands who we are as a community, and I know she will help make us even stronger. She will bring her own distinct gifts and strengths to our clergy team in a way that will complement what we already have.”
Rabbi Whitehead will begin in her new role on July 1. We offer our sincere thanks to the Rabbinic Fellow Search Committee, as well as Rabbi Beraha and Beth Werlin, for making this possible with their hard work and dedication. We are so excited that Rabbi Whitehead will be a part of our next two years and know you will all join us in welcoming her as all of us, together, author the future of our congregation.
Sincerely,
Roberta Aronson, President
Emily Tamkin, Vice President
