Beytenu Gathering: Día de los Muertos

October 22, 2026
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

We meet monthly with a different topic or activity. Beytenu is always a place to meet up with other Micah members, those you already know and those who are new to you.

Inspired by Temple Micah’s incredibly meaningful custom of “Yahrzeit Stories,” where congregants are invited to share stories of their loved ones who have passed away, the Beytenu team has been thinking about different ways in which we remember and celebrate the people we love who are no longer with us. This month, we’ll take inspiration from Día de los Muertos, the Mexican tradition of honoring loved ones who have died, as a springboard for exploring Jewish rituals and traditions around death, mourning, memory, and remembrance.

You are invited to bring a photograph of at least one loved one who has passed away, someone you’d like to remember and perhaps share a story about. We’ll spend time together talking, listening, remembering, and reflecting on the many ways we carry the people we’ve loved with us.

For those of you less familiar with Día de los Muertos, it is not a sad holiday; it is much more focused on keeping people’s memories alive and present. We hope you’ll join us.
