January Lunch and Learn with David Diskin: My Israel Adventure from the Seat of a Bike

Micah member David Diskin will speak about his 3 week trip to Israel, including the Israel Bike Ride from Jerusalem to Eilat to raise money for the Arava Institute, which brings young Israeli, Jordanian, Moroccan and Palestinian students together to work on common regional environmental issues.

About the Speaker:

David, 78, is an avid biker and singer. He is married to Barbara; together they have two children and two grandchildren. On questions regarding his decision to participate in the Israel Bike Ride (“Isn’t that dangerous?” “Aren’t you a little too old? Israel? For a bike ride?”), David’s response is, “Here’s what they don’t understand: Sometimes the heart knows what it needs before the head can catch up. Sometimes the very thing that others question is exactly what your soul requires. That was my experience.”

Register before 5 p.m. the Sunday before for in-person lunch ($10) or by the next evening for the Zoom link.
