Sukkat Shalom 2025 Planning Meeting & Potluck

Since its founding in early 2017, Sukkat Shalom has had a hybrid purpose: relocating and supporting refugee and migrant families and individuals locally, and strategizing about how we can have a larger, systemic impact in partnership with organizations advocating for immigrants and refugees. Sukkat Shalom has helped relocate and support four families and has supported diverse organizations, including recent donations to six local organizations working with immigrants and refugees.

What’s Next?

Sukkat Shalom will meet on Sunday, November 2 from noon-2:30 in the Social Hall to plan the next phase of our work. We are excited to hear ideas from new volunteers. Please RSVP HERE (click ‘YES’ on the “Are you attending?” question at the bottom of the page).

RSVP

For the potluckplease bring the following based on the first letter of your last name:

  • A to H – side dish or salad
  • I to R – dessert
  • S to Z – main dish

Through our partner organizations, we have learned of numerous opportunities to engage the Micah community in a wide range of meaningful service and advocacy opportunities. We are excited to explore how to deepen our relationships with these organizations, as well as to brainstorm additional opportunities. Possibilities include joining direct service activities through CASA’s ally network and other programs, conducting drives for goods for clients of Mary’s Center and La Clinica, and tutoring and mentoring HIAS clients.

Please join Sukkat Shalom to shape our priorities and begin work on our next set of activities.
