Tashlich Service (Rock Creek Park)

The Tashlich ceremony offers us a chance to symbolically cast our wrongdoings of the previous year into the water and begin the new year with a fresh start.

Meet at Rock Creek Park – Picnic Grove 1 | View on Google Maps. Picnic Area #1 at Rock Creek Park is located near Peirce Mill near the corner of Shoemaker and Spring of Freedom streets (3998 Spring of Freedom St NW, Washington, DC 20008). See the Picnic Areas web page for an interactive location map.

Registration is NOT required to attend; all are welcome!

*Please do not bring bread or any other food item to throw in the water. In trying to be environmentally responsible, we will use items from nature instead (i.e. small rocks, sticks, leaves).

In case of inclement weather, we will email the community by 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning if we need to cancel the event.

Picnic Area #1 is one of the two nicest picnic areas at Rock Creek Park.  It is situated on a large, open field that borders Rock Creek. There are approximately fifteen tables, a covered pavilion, and a restroom facility next to the parking lot. Along with a field suitable for all sorts of games and sports, picnickers can visit Peirce Mill, which is just across Tilden Street.

Picnic Area #1 can accommodate up to 75 guests. It is handicap accessible.
