Supportive Resources for Aging Well Forum

October 15 | 3 p.m. | @ Temple Micah + On Zoom

Supportive Resources for Aging Well, a forum offered by Hineni and Wise Aging for the Temple Micah community, on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, will be virtual and in person in the Social Hall. Whether you are an elder who wants to make the most of the years ahead, someone with health concerns seeking ways to stay independent, or a family caregiver evaluating a full range of options in the DMV or farther afield, this session is designed to support your exploration.

We will discuss how to identify and evaluate opportunities for aging well with knowledgeable community and Jewish experts, including Steve Gurney, Founder and Publisher of the Positive Aging Sourcebook and a representative from the Jewish Social Service Agency.

Would you like to join a vibrant community of elders to explore this phase of our lives together?

The Wise Aging program’s series of workshops, offered by Temple Micah to its members and to all interested seniors, helps us continue to grow and appreciate life more deeply as we age. New Wise Aging cohorts — small groups who gather for nine weekly sessions — begin several times a year. A new Wise Aging Cohort will begin after we have sufficient participants, who will be considered in the order in which they registered. We welcome expressions of interest in the form below. If you have questions, please contact us at wiseaging@templemicah.org.

The book Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience and Spirit by Rabbi Rachel Cowan and Dr. Linda Thal serves as our jumping off point. The only cost will be your purchase of that book. Trained facilitators help us explore topics ranging from revitalizing relationships to forgiveness and reconciliation, from learning to live with loss and conscious dying, to cultivating spiritual qualities for well-being. Almost one hundred participants have already shared this journey through text study, active listening, meditation and poetry.
