The Erev Tisha B'Av service commemorates not only the destruction of the ancient Temples in Jerusalem but disasters through the ages up to modern times, and celebrates our survival through them all. The lights in the sanctuary are dim; we sit close to the floor (on cushions or low chairs) and read by candle light. Parts of the book of Lamentations (Eicha) are chanted and we read poetry and inspirational stories. It is very moving and peaceful. Please come.

Odds are, you consider the Adam and Eve story one of the best-known and most straightforward texts in the Torah. But precisely because the text is so well known, it has become very hard to read in its own right, without layers of later interpretation. Take the part where Eve tempts Adam, for example. It's not actually in the text. And what about those cute little outfits they make out of leaves? Well, they make something out of leaves, but it's not outfits. Come find out just how different (and even more interesting) the story is when you forget everything you already "know" it says.
