A wheat field and an unfurled Torah scroll

Erev Shavuot service with Yizkor

On Erev Shavuot, we mark the end of the 49-day counting of the Omer, the wheat harvest, and the revelation of the Torah to Moses and the Israelites at Mount Sinai. The service features the ritual reading of the Ten Commandments, the singing of Hallel, and reflections from our rabbis. The rabbis will each be answering the question, “What piece of Torah roots you?” Yizkor also will be read.  All are welcome to join us for this festival service.

Following the service, Beytenu invites you to an oneg. At this post-service oneg, we will feast on a sweet dairy treat to honor this holiday’s culinary tradition. We will also reflect creatively on the Jewish values at the heart of the Shavuot celebration: covenant (ברית), renewal (חדש), purpose (שליחות), and gratitude (תודה). This oneg welcomes all ages! In the Beytenu spirit of building community within Temple Micah, please consider reaching out to a friend to join you at this oneg.

This service will be livestreamed and the link will be shared in the weekly email (“Friends of Temple Micah”) prior to the service.
