Historically, each Shabbat morning, we read a section of the Prophets that corresponds to the time of year or to the theme of the Torah portion. This ritual is called haftarah. Over the past few years at Micah, we have undertaken a project of creating new readings for haftarah. Why did we at Micah take on this project, how did we decide what to include, and above all, what can the haftarah offer us as modern American Jews?
