October 7 Memorial Service

October 7, 2023 will forever be remembered as a tragic day in Jewish history. The joy of dancing on Simchat Torah gave way to screams of panic, fear and death in the south of Israel. We learned of the safe rooms that were not safe enough, the lives lost, and the hostages taken. We read of the unspeakable violence, all on October 7. We wept. We weep still. We wept also, at the sacrifice and heroism that in our sadness, we dare not forget.

We will gather on October 7 at 6:30 p.m. as a Micah community to memorialize the tragedy that Israel suffered this day. We know that there are other observances and events in our wider community on this day and we understand that some of you will choose to participate in them. We are a synagogue that cherishes the prayer life we offer. We therefore seek to honor this singularly sacred day liturgically, communally, together.

We hope many of you will be with us.

This service will take place both in person and on Zoom. No registration is required. Check the weekly email or contact the office for the Zoom link.
