Welcoming Shabbat + Labor on the Bimah

Join us for Oneg at 6 p.m., then light candles with us, join in Kiddush, and enjoy challah as we welcome Shabbat together in-person at Temple Micah or online. Contact the office to receive the Zoom link.

This evening we will focus on Labor on the Bimah with the Jews United for Justice (JUFJ), who has worked to put “labor” back into Labor Day since 1998. This year’s topic is fair taxes and economic justice:

“JUFJers across DC and Maryland have been working to pass and implement fair taxation laws for over two decades. Our Jewish tradition teaches us that we are obligated to support the needs of everyone in the community where we live, and that everyone should have the resources necessary to thrive, no matter our race, faith, wealth, or zip code. We are called to fight for a tax system in Maryland and Washington, DC that ensures those with the most pay their fair share to invest in true shared wellness, quality of life, safety, and prosperity for all of us.”
