The immigrants often described as “unauthorized,” “undocumented” or “illegal” are largely young, working families that often have permission to live and work in the U.S. Jeffrey Passel will discuss his research describing the characteristics and legal statuses of this population, including who they live with, how they got here, where they live and where they work. New survey data shows some changes in attitudes toward immigration enforcement. Passel’s Pew Research publications represent some of the most detailed and authoritative information on unauthorized immigrants and the entire foreign-born population.
